We like to get to know our favourite brands a little bit better and the first to be featured in our serie is Madara. This Latvian company offers an exquisite range of skin-, body- and haircare products that we are extremely proud to feature in our boutique.
Here, Lotte Tisenkopfa-Iltnere, founder of Madara, shares with us great insights about their unique journey and their take on what the future holds.
What led you to create Madara and what sets you apart from other natural beauty brands?
I experienced bad allergies from conventional, synthetic skincare, which made me set my skin on a fully organic ‘diet’ and to create MÁDARA. I wanted to change the world of skincare, using organic ingredients as powerful as botox, yet safe enough to eat. MÁDARA formulations are based on Northern/Arctic ingredients, backed by scientific studies, and Northern aesthetics are at the heart of our brand.
We really love your latest range, Time Miracle, which uses Birch sap. Can you tell us a bit more about it?
Birch sap is a traditional beauty and detox drink in some countries. It flows only a few weeks each Spring in Northern regions. Research took us two years, but we proved that birch water speeds up skin cell regeneration by 25%. That’s quite something! We fully replaced regular water with biologically active Northern birch sap in Time Miracle formulations. Enriched with Cell Repair Bio-Complex, these products help to bring back cells to their younger state and reverse both environmental and genetic ageing, leaving skin smoother, well-moisturized and more radiant.
What does a typical Madara business day look like?
At MÁDARA, we are not just a brand, we are innovation freaks. We opened our new organic skincare factory in Riga with our own lab, production facilities, R&D, design and other departments. What started with four women, has now grown into a passionate team of more than 80 people. The factory is built with transparent production rooms and is open for general public. During working hours, we welcome visitors to guided tours and workshops, creating a place where everyone can see and experience how natural ingredients are being refined into luxurious cosmetic textures.
How do you see the organic market evolving and can we expect any exciting new additions by the end of the year?
The majority of us live in urban environments that put our skin under a heavy environmental stress. Trends like anti-pollution, urban detox and antioxidant skincare have been stealing the spotlight recently. With this in mind, we launched our Smart Antioxidants anti-pollution skincare line that targets the first signs of ageing, caused by environmental stress and lifestyle. Also, I see ingredients from the Northern flora becoming the next big thing. Not to mention the well-being concept that invites to enjoy daily beauty routines as harmonizing rituals. And something special is coming up at the end of 2017, so stay tuned!
