With a name that can only put you in an awesome mood, Finnish beauty brand Supermood combines green ethos and sophisticated ingredients.
Its founder is Anne Kukkohovi, a beauty and fashion expert that turned into an entrepreneur when she launched her holistic line in 2014. We’re thrilled to be featuring Anne in our series and can’t wait to read about her beauty approach and future challenges.
Anne, it’s so nice to meet you. Can you tell us a little bit about you?
I’ve been surrounded by fashion, beauty and creativity all of my life. I’m an Art Lover – in all of its forms. As a teenager, I made all my clothes (omg!) myself and dreamt of becoming a photographer. Eventually, I ended up on the other side of the lens, being a model for a decade. The natural transition into the advertising world was easy. I became an Art Director and had the chance to really test my creativity. I tend to slide into new ideas and professions naturally due my endless curiosity. Recently, I’ve been working on various TV shows like “Finnish Top Model”, “Dancing with the Stars” and “Ten Years Younger”. Creating my own beauty brand had been bubbling under for a long time, just waiting for the right time to be launched.
What inspired you to create a natural beauty line?
I’m a true “beautyholic”. I’ve always been curious about the next big thing or conceptual ideas on the beauty world. During my modelling years, I ended up being an Ambassador for a few beauty brands and saw how the business works. Also, my passion for alluring package design is endless. After digging deeper into the wellbeing business, I realised beauty is all about finding balance in different areas of life. Being natural was a no-brainer for me, since it’s written in the future. We all have different needs, hormonal issues, problems at work or in life, or simply aging, that cannot be treated only with topical products. I wanted to create a brand with a 360° vision of beauty. That is what drives me forward. Making new discoveries and giving us women (and men – why not) peer support when needed.
What does a typical day look like at the Supermood headquarters?
Oh dear, there is no typical day! It can be anything from a boring office day to travelling and meeting new clients, which is always wonderful! Creating a brand from the scratch takes a lot of hard work. Meetings, organising resources, taking care of paperwork, investigating new innovations, ingredients, product development… the list just goes on and on.
What’s the one beauty tip to follow that could make a huge difference to your skin?
Actually, the answer lies in your diet. If you don’t get enough essential fatty acids, collagen or blend of vitamins, you will notice it on your face, hair and nails. So, include edible collagen into your daily routine. Start using and loving avocado. Vitamin C is “unsexy” at the moment, but it helps your body to absorb all the nutrients.
Supermood has been growing tremendously since its launch. How do you see your brand in 5 years?
In 5 years, Supermood will have built strong growth in every continent and with multiple premium, high volume retail partners. Supermood will take the market leading position in ecoluxury skincare. We dream big, because dreams do happen!
